Jay Weisbond wins 2017 Teen Court Essay Award
To honor the memory of Corporal Thomas Frey, a bailiff who had worked at the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office for 20 years, Teen Court’s Honorable Judge Firmani established an essay contest three years ago. All Pasco County high school and middle schools’ Teen Court members are invited to participate in the essay contest. The first place winner receives a plaque from Judge Firmani and a book from the Judge’s personal library. The school of the winning student receives a complete set of Florida statutes.
Since the inception of the contest in May 2015, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School has taken 1st place each year. AND WE DID IT AGAIN THIS YEAR with the winner being Jay Weisbond. This is a very big accomplishment for our student and our school considering that approximately 13 schools in Pasco County entered the contest and it is our third consecutive 1st place win. Judge Firmani praised our student’s essay and stated that Bishop has the best essay writers!
Congratulations to Jay on a job well done! And GO CANES!
